[ The source for this story is so short that normally we
would not post this on the Linux Today home page, but its
conclusion is so controversial that we felt it warrants reader
attention - LT ed. ]
"Linux is becoming the OS of choice in much of Africa, where a
copy of Microsoft (stock: MSFT) Windows costs about five months'
salary... and Microsoft's Office suite costs around $800 -- more
than three times Africa's average per-capita income of $250.
Some observers caution that the adoption of Linux could lead to
the digital divide that has been forming in developed
economies.
