Platforms and formats: IOzone is available as C source code, and the provided make file supports building on numerous platforms, including Linux IA-32, Linux IA-64, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris, and Windows.

Status: Version 3.53, stable

Why Highlighted: IOzone is an extremely flexible and useful tool for assessing the performance of file I/O under the operating systems listed above. It can be run entirely in command-line mode with text mode output, and it can also optionally store its data in Microsoft Excel BIFF format which can be used to create graphs with Excel.
