The search is now on! The Linux User Group of Singapore will present the annual LUGS Awards at the Singapore Linux Conference 2001, held from 21-24 March 2001 at the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The LUGS Awards are a set of accolades given to Linux vendors for their outstanding contributions to the rapid development of the Linux operating system. Although only in it's second year, the LUGS Awards had gained tremendous recognition as one of the most talked-about awards in the industry, and had been labelled as the Academy Awards for the Linux community. We are now accepting nominations for the following 9 awards categories:

1. Singapore Linux Offering of the Year

2. Singapore Business Solution of the Year

This is intended to be for corporations that have embraced Linux and achieved reduced total cost of ownership, performance gains, or unprecedented cost savings. The goal is to recognize organizations that have succeeded in realizing value from Linux solutions and to help publicize their success in an effort to aid further industry adoption.

3. Best New Hardware

4. Best New Enterprise Application - Wireless
Open to international nominees. This is intended to cover *new* software systems that have played a very significant role in enabling today's wireless facilities. The goal is to show that Linux is playing a huge role in powering the backend to provide a superior wireless user experience.

5. Best New Enterprise Application - Infrastructure
Open to international nominees. This is intended to cover *new* software systems that have been highly successful in addressing serious customer needs in the I.T. infrastructure space - mail servers, DNS servers, web servers, application servers, RDBMSes, etc. The idea is to show the world that Linux is now a serious operating system and has made alarming inroads into corporate datacenters.

6. Best New Enterprise Application - Security

7. Best New Gadget

8. Most Promising New Technology

9. Temasek Award
The show's highest award, the Temasek Award, will be presented to the most deserving local/regional company - for class leading innovation, flawless execution, social responsibility and business excellence. One of the local/regional nominees in the above categories will win the show's most coveted Temasek Award.
