Interesting point about Dell, as it is not a "Unix" vendor, but Linux is lumped into the group. I'd be interested in seeing the Linux numbers for the quarter, if Dell got that kind of percentage with Linux alone. And that's sales alone. What about VA, Penguin, etc, and how about downloads?
"Dell [which doesn't sell Unix servers] came out of nowhere to capture 18 percent of the market, with 12,171 units, according to Dataquest. Because the Linux operating system is a derivative of Unix and doesn't sell enough units to demand its own category, Dataquest lumped it in with Unix for this market-share survey."
Sun, by the way, is top dog with 45% of this particular market.
