IBM has a new drop of its Journaled File System (JFS release 1.0.11) technology. JFS is regarded as one of IBM's best Open Source offerings and it has improved greatly since its initial release to the Open Source community back in December of 2000.
There's also a JFS overview white paper available as well as a Layout white paper and JFS tutorial. JFS is a key technology for Internet file servers since it provides fast file system restart times in the event of a system crash.
