"PNS, developed with an undisclosed sum provided under the
National Information Technology Council?s Demonstrator Application
Grants Scheme (NITC-DAGS), has been running as a pilot covering 50
clinics in the Klang Valley.
"The pilot has been running for less than a year and is expected
to be officially launched in May.
"The developers cited cost as a major factor for PNS to be based
on Open Source software.
"'We originally considered developing PNS under Windows, but the
cost of a proprietary operating system, applications and database
would have been too high,' said PCDOM president Dr. Molly
Cheah..."
