Linux and Main: UnitedLinux: Ransom Love is Out; Open Beta This Month

"A mystery raised in the teleconference is the whereabouts of Ransom Love. The former Caldera head stepped down in June to handle the company's involvement in UnitedLinux. But in response to a question, Hunter said that he is not there and never has been.

"'We're indebted to Ransom Love for his contribution during the formative stages of UnitedLinux,' she said. 'His efforts were instrumental in getting us where we are today. The board, however, determined that the best interests of UnitedLinux would be served by hiring someone from the outside, who could not be perceived, rightly or wrongly, as having conflicts of interest.'
