HindustanTimes: LG Electronics India Unit Launches Linux PCs

"The Indian unit of South Korea's LG Electronics launched its personal computers on Tuesday and said it was relying on their lower price and the growing popularity of the Linux software to boost sales.

"Officials at LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd told a news conference the firm's MY PC range of desktop computers were about 8-10 per cent cheaper than other foreign brands and would be run by Linux software rather than rival Microsoft's Windows.

"Nearly 90 per cent of the world's personal computers use the Windows operating system but officials said the share of Linux, a collaboratively developed, free operating system, had doubled to 10 per cent in the last 18 months..."
