CRN: Linux: 'Consistency' is Our Goal, Says IBM Exec

"Speaking to CRN at PartnerWorld here Monday, [John] Sarsgard
said that most people are aware of IBM's commitment to Linux, of
Linux's viability in the enterprise, and 'that Linux is not a
passing fancy.'
"'The message has gotten through that IBM is investing in Linux
in a very large way,' Sarsgard said, noting that IBM now has 300
full-time developers working on the operating system. 'People ask
me why we are investing these resources in an operating system we
don't even own.'
"The reason IBM dedicates those resources is that 'we want to
promote keeping Linux consistent,' Sarsgard said, and to see that
the best enhancements and updates go into the Linux kernel..."
