"A small hillside of computer trash collects near a river in rural Guiyu, China, leaching toxins into the ground.

"Thick smoke billows from an open pit in Guiyu, where open burning of plastic computer casings reduces the computer waste to metal parts.

"Those are two photos from an environmental group's report on the Western world's export of computer equipment to Asia for questionable disposable practices.

"'They're really polluting the environment,' said Jim Mansfield, waste reduction specialist for Clark County. 'That's why we don't send them overseas for recycling...'"
