Sydney Morning Herald: SA Govt Softens Tone on Open Source, But Refuses to Back Bill

"The South Australian government has toned down its stance on open source software but said it does not support passage of a bill by a member, which would have mandated the use of such software wherever practicable.

"Government backbencher John Gazzola told parliament yesterday that while Labor did not support the bill, it 'believes that there are more effective mechanisms for ensuring that the government can use all available effective technology including open source software...'"
