"The Royal Thai Army has implemented its own flavour of Linux
called Khunsuk (Warlord) and developed in-house to make the most
use of its old computers.
"Military IT Centre Director Col.Rittee Inravudh told Database
that development of Linux Khunsuk has been ongoing since 1993 to
support a web-based client/server platform for routine
administrative work.
"The aim was to save government budget, he said, noting: 'We can
still work on our years-old computers at present. This brings a
huge cost savings benefit and this helped our project to win the
first prize in the Army's IT awards this year...'"
