"Australia's premier open source user group is for the first
time running seminars for government agencies at its annual
conference--largely thanks to the backing earlier this year of the
Federal Government's information economy agency.
"Open Computing for Government sessions will run at next week's
Australian Unix and Open Systems User Group's annual national
conference in Sydney.
"Hard-won acceptance of open source by Australian Government
departments can be traced to comments by John Rimmer, chief
executive of the National Office for the Information Economy, at an
open source seminar targeted at Government users earlier this year,
says conference organiser and AUUG treasurer Gordon Hubbard..."
