"Austrlian government users of Linux are ignoring SCO's offer of licences to protect them from possible legal action over the company's claim to intellectual property used in the open source operating system.

"Government users, while generally cautious about legal risks, are taking a wait-and-see approach to SCO's controversial claims.

"US-based SCO claimed in May that versions of the open source operating system dating back to the 2.4 kernel use code owned by SCO. In July it began offering US Linux users a licence to protect them again possible legal action..."
