"There are a lot of cliches about how the only thing that remains constant is change. That statement definitely applies to the Linux industry. Last year and the beginning of this has brought us a lot of changes. There are new technologies and distributions to pick from.

"Ubuntu was a relatively unknown name a few months ago but now is generating a lot of buzz. Personally, I have tried Ubuntu and don't see anything technically special with it. The way Ubuntu is marketed (free CDs and an interesting release cycle) is what is making it so successful. But this article isn't about Ubuntu but a very different distribution called Arch.
