"First, tell us a little about the history of OpenNMS.

"OpenNMS was conceived in 1999 and registered on Sourceforge in early 2000. As project 4141, it's an early example of an open-source project that is still around and active. It was started in Raleigh, North Carolina, by a group of network management professionals and software developers who were interested in building the next generation of network management tools. That group was acquired by a company in Kansas called Atipa, who, among other things, sold Linux friendly servers..."
