"Day two of LinuxWorld Expo is really the first true day of the show, since day one is reserved for tutorial sessions. I started the day by attending Timothy Witham's (CTO of OSDL) talk on the state of the Linux Kernel. A lot of the material probably could have been garnered by keeping up with the kernel release notes over the last year or so, but it was nice to see it summarized in one place. He also covered how the change from BitKeeper to Linus's home-grown source control system has impacted the development process and the way merges are done. In addition, he made a point to talk about the emphasis that is now being placed on automated regression testing of the kernel to look for incompatible changes to the binary APIs..."
