"Linux distributor Red Hat Inc has handed the development of its Global File System to the Fedora community project.

"The Raleigh, North Carolina-based Linux distributor acquired the GFS cluster file system along with Sistina Systems in 2003, and began selling the software in July 2004. The OpenGFS Project open source variant has also made the software available and made its own modifications to the GFS code..."
