"When Rasterman (Carsten Haitzler) and Mandrake (Geoff Harrison) started the Enlightenment project almost 10 years ago, the eye candy intensive desktop manager was barely able to run by the hardware standards of that time. KDE and Gnome were in their infancy, and FVWM was the window manager of choice for a big percentage of Linux users.
