"One of the last major moves of former HP CEO Carly Fiorina's troubled tenure at the company was announcing at last year's CES of the company's plans to build a media hub. The ambitious HP-branded hardware would run Linux and be marketed as a consumer electronics device rather than a PC. The capability list was impressive: the ability to play HD video, act as a digital cable set-top box, a dual-tuner DVR, as well as a general digital media (e.g., photos, music, video) server.
