"An open source systems deployment at Orwell High School in Felixstowe, Suffolk, has reportedly been abandoned by the school's IT manager, leaving pupils with a hybrid OSS/proprietary system that is far from useable, and has impacted the pupils' academic performance.

"Nearly two years ago, the Cutter Project implemented a Linux-based system at Orwell. The roll-out took place mainly over the summer and Cutter was in charge of the maintenance of the system.

"Things began to go awry when the school's IT manager, an open source champion, was taken ill. His replacement was reportedly unhappy to relinquish control of the system..."
