"Following an article I read on Linux Today I was surprised that there was anyone who felt that Tux the penguin was a bad mascot for Linux. His article can be found here and it makes slightly worrying reading. Now, I appreciate some of the points made, that it is rare that huge corporations use cuddly animals as their mascots--true enough, but the question I pose is whether that is a bad thing?

"Linux is on the up, and one of the key points for maintaining this rate of growth is strong branding. Strong branding=having a mascot/logo. Tux is a friendly enough logo, distinguishable by all those who have a clue about IT..."
