"A couple of years back, the computers were connected to each other by what is known as a bus network where all the computers were connected using a single coaxial networking cable hooked to each computer using a T connector. But this kind of arrangement caused a lot of problems and a break in the cable, loose connectors or a cable short was enough to bring down the entire network. And troubleshooting these problems were a big headache because it was difficult to pin-point the error. To circumvent this problem, another network design was embraced which is the star network where the computers are connected to each other via a common physical device called a hub..."
