"Q: I just tried Windows Vista and was soooo impressed that now I'd like to try out Linux. What is the best way to dip my toes into the Linux pond?
"A: Wow. I'm sure that wasn't the effect that Microsoft was going for; however, I can't say that I'm surprised. I myself recoiled to Windows XP after a significant amount of software and hardware just wouldn't work with Vista, so I understand your pain. Let's see if Linux can treat you better..."
