"CentOS 5 was released a few weeks ago to little or no fanfare on the Internet. I find this surprising, since CentOS is a good, stable operating system traditionally. But maybe individuals have been waiting to make a decision on the newest version from CentOS. If you're one of those people, then wait no more!

"CentOS (or the Community ENTerprise Operating System) is an enterprise class GNU/Linux distribution based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The difference is that all proprietary drivers, programs and references to Red Hat have been removed. In fact, they do not even mention Red Hat on their web site. Red Hat is called the 'upstream vendor...'"
