"I believe wholeheartedly that the dream of most open source developers is to be able to find a way to fund their efforts to create or merely improve upon the open source projects out there. And one of the cornerstones that David Mandel expresses during his talk is that there is a whole lot more to making a success out of an open source project than just creating a version of it and seeking funding.

"Right away, Mandel made sure to illustrate the importance of management over everything else. Because a poorly managed project offers little value to anyone and it also makes seeking any level of funding a 'not happening' type of event as well, it's very difficult to seek funding for something that's unworthy. David expressed the important things that funding sources want to see before even considering giving away money, regardless of how good the concept appears to be on the surface..."
