"Normally when free software people come up with some... unusual... idea, my reaction is 'go for it.' Stuff sometimes works, and failure is part of stigmergic learning. What if that Indianapolis 500 car had come from behind and won the race? Remember, people who have wacky ideas are motivated to implement their own ideas and might not be motivated to be yet another contributor to a sensible idea. So it's usually not do wacky idea vs. do sensible idea, it's usually do wacky idea vs. do nothing. So, go for it.

"But this patent thing...this is me saying 'What the hell are you doing...?'"
