"Vector Linux, a derivative of Slackware Linux, is an all in one
Linux distribution targeted towards both beginners and the Windows
refuge. Designed to be both powerful and easy to use, Vector Linux
takes the Linux desktop and makes it enjoyable to use. Think of it
as Slackware simplified. Extremely simplified given the complexity
of Slackware. The latest version of the Standard Edition comes with
the 2.6.18.5 Linux kernel and XFCE4 by default, although both are
easily upgradeable once you've completed the install. Vector Linux
comes in two flavors, Standard and SOHO, and each comes in two
versions, a regular install cd and a live cd. Since they're
noticeably different in key areas, I'll only going to concentrate
on the Standard edition for this review. For those who don't know
the main differences, the Standard version is designed to be
resource lite as it's targeted towards users who have older
machines, whereas SOHO is the full 'bells and whistles' version
designed for more modern machines. As such I'll be covering the
SOHO version in another writeup..."
