"Q: What was your spontaneous reaction when the ISO approved OOXML?

"Louis : Spontaneous? The process was not a spontaneous one; the decision not cut and dried; the event singular. So my reaction was not the result of a sudden news event. Rather, it was based on the understanding of the logic and logistics of the process and of the individuals participating and the issues at stake. I am disappointed that a format that has received as much criticism as OOXML did, was approved in the manner it was approved. But I am also aware that there is no 'last word' here; and am also glad that the ODF, which OOo uses, was approved by the ISO in such a clean, open, and thoroughly uncontroversial fashion..."
