"I'm thinking it'll have more the latter affect than anything else. High return rates or excessive customer complaints are two of the fastest ways to get your product not only removed from store shelves, but also banned from ever returning.

"If this sudden predicted rash of returns does happen, it could spell the end of netbooks. And that's one thing I know Microsoft would love. Sure, they loose an avenue through which to sell more copies of Windows, but they also cut off one of Linux's emerging strongholds, and another potential avenue by which Linux can further challenge Microsoft's desktop dominance."
