My Experiences With Kubuntu 9.04 So Far

Mar 03, 2009, 14:03 (1 Talkback[s])

[ Thanks to Jeremy LaCroix for this link. ]

"This is by no means a review, since reviewing an unfinished product wouldn't be fair. In any development release, you should expect bugs, breakage, and generally weird occurrences all around. I will be reviewing the final release when it comes out though.

"Now, I'm going to skip over the installation process since not much has changed from before. There is a newer location selector in the installer, but it's still something that you'll only see once.

"I think the first thing I noticed about this release is how stable and fast it is. EXT4 is not the only upgrade that I can credit for its speed, there is something else to blame too. I'm not sure what it is (maybe something in the kernel) but Kubuntu 9.04 is definitely a speed demon on the two machines I put it on. In fact, it's actually extremely stable too"
