Top Five Geek-Style Distros

"2. Arch Linux--possibly the most optimized binary distribution
available. Similar to Slackware in structure, but simpler than
Slackware in what it comes with--not a whole lot. This is not
simple as in newbie simple, it is simple in terms of containing
only the basics; you add what you want and put together config
files yourself.
"5. Sabayon--a Gentoo offshoot that makes initial entry into the
source based distro space a bit easier initially. I've not worked
with this one much and I've heard mixed reports. Advocates say that
it is easy to install initially, is fast, and has the same
advantages as Gentoo. Detractors complain about quality issues,
some of the same complaints that I've heard with Gentoo."
