"Firefox 3.6 also includes perhaps the single most important
usability fix, that I've been looking for in Mozilla for over a
year. With Firefox 3.6 when you click on a link to open a new tab
it opens in the tab adjacent instead of the one on the far left.
It's a simple change, but it makes a world of difference. Google
Chrome has had this behavior since day one and it's so much easier
to keep track of new tabs when they open next to the tab you're
already working in."
