"It comes as little surprise that when I and others make this
argument, there is quite a bit of counter-argument that goes along
the lines of: "you're just changing the rules of the game because
Linux can never win on the true desktop. This is just fancy
rationalization."
"To say that the Linux userbase as a whole is rationalizing
their way to a desktop win by redefining what a desktop actually is
would be inaccurate, because there are a lot of pro-Linux people
out there that don't buy into this line of reasoning, either. For
them, it's the PC desktop or bust, and any other successes Linux
might have along the way are just steps towards the ultimate goal
of knocking Windows off its pedestal."
