"There is a common belief propagated around the web that Linux users are a different breed of people than windows users. In the beginning of Linux history that would have been true. These days it is not. Linux has evolved to such an extent that anyone can and does use Linux.

"Ever since the dawn of computing there have been 10 types of people who use computers. There are the average users who just use a computer in the course of their daily work and there are the power users who love to delve into the deep and dark secrets of the operating system and tweak and twiddle to their hearts desire. To cater for those desires there are hundreds and thousands of web sites, forums and blogs dedicated to operating system internals.

"However, in, shall we say, debates amongst Linux and windows users, there is a common argument directed against Linux users that they and only they, are special cases which don't apply to the public in general. I call balderdash."
