Install New Improved Transmission 2.0 in Ubuntu Lucid, Karmic

Jul 04, 2010, 13:04 (0 Talkback[s])

[ Thanks to kiterunner for this link. ]

"Transmission is the default bit torrent client in Ubuntu for some time now. But I must admit, I always felt it to be inferior in front of alternatives like Deluge, which apparently is my favorite bit torrent app for Ubuntu Gnome. But Transmission is a favorite for many and the release of Transmission 2.0 with a lot of improvements and bug fixes is indeed a welcome development.

"What's New in Transmission 2.0?

* Even faster startup.
* Use of IEC standard units (KiB, MiB, GiB) instead of (KB, MB, GB).
* Feels more lightweight and uses fewer resources than other clients.
* Transmission has always been cross platform and has native Mac, GTK+ and Qt GUI clients."
