"Over time I have heard or read a lot of stories
regarding attacks against open source software. In each of those
stories open source has vigorously defended itself and occasionally
even gone on the attack. I am sure you have all heard the saying
that the best defence is a good offence :)
"Recently however, I have been reading stories of how a large
proprietary company has been buying out several well known open
source projects, either directly or indirectly through the parent
company buyouts. This has caused ripples of concern throughout the
blogosphere with a blogger here and a blogger there and everywhere
a blogger blogging, and bleating on how this big bad company is on
the warpath against it's perceived open source competitors.
"But that is about it. It has all been talk and complaining with
nothing else happening."
