Assange: Manning a 'political prisoner' in US

Dec 24, 2010, 20:02 (15 Talkback[s])

[ Thanks to Jose_X for this link. ]

This story is not about linux directly, but it is about openness in speech, and use of technology that is likely foss technology. More importantly, it is a topic of great value to all journalistic sites. It is also very interesting from an informed individual.

It is an interview with Julian Assange of wikileaks. Really shames government representatives (with calls for illegal murders, failures of due process, attack on first amendment rights, etc) while encouraged that silent majority is in fact getting organized slowly but surely. Sets record straight on misinformation on wikileaks and how many more good journalists are at a greater risk because of how they normally manage their anonymous sources. Even mentions how he did not know Private Manning until he made the news and how problematic is how he is being treated. Mentions EU and world having serious doubts about US approach to justice, etc. Also states how the US meets the definition of terrorist rather than wikileaks.

This is an important interview in the development of the Internet, free speech, and civil rights.
