LWN.net: Roswell: the second sighting - available now (Red Hat 7.2 Second Beta)

Red Hat wants you to know that the second beta release of
Roswell (7.2) is in better shape than the first: "I went back to
the same place I'd seen it before," said one distressed
townsperson. "What I'd seen before was gone - there was SOMETHING
else out there. It looked more complete; while some of the stuff
that I saw last week was completely smashed and unusable, this new
evidence is almost recognizable."

Unofficial Red Hat With ReiserFS Support Images Available (Aug 21, 2001, 22:08)
A project to modify the base Red Hat distribution to include
ReiserFS support has made its latest release: the images use kernel
2.4.6, and include support for use with Red Hat's kickstart.

Mandrake Linux Security Update Advisory: gdm (Aug 21, 2001, 16:30)
"A buffer overrun exists in the XDMCP handling code used in gdm.
By sending a properly crafted XDMCP message, it is possible for a
remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands as root on the
susceptible machine. By default, XDMCP is disabled in gdm.conf on
Mandrake Linux."
