Infrastructure Linux News for Jan 10, 2009:

  • Editor's Note: Fried PCs, Computer Sound Studios, Quiet!
    (2009-01-10 00:03:55)
It's been an interesting week. My main workstation crashed; it boots to a Busybox prompt, and emits all sorts of interesting "drdy err, unc" errors. Which sounds like there is a pervert inside my PC who is related to me.

  • The New Year Linux Resolution: Day 2
    (2009-01-10 01:33:55)
Zmogo: "Yesterday was a bit of an ordeal, but I’m ready to forgive, forget, and move on. So today I log on to the forums to see what the linuxperts have to say. (I thought up that word myself, and if you use it I'll sue the hell out of you.)"

  • FreeSWITCH 1.0.2 with New Codecs and Fax for VoIP
    (2009-01-10 03:03:55)
Linux Magazine: "Free VoIP platform software FreeSWITCH is now in version 1.0.2. Enhancements include a fax module and new codecs for higher sampling rates."

  • Even Better: Linux to *Be* on More Desktops than Windows
    (2009-01-10 14:03:55)
Linux Developer Network: "With apologies to my boss, a story in today's Wall Street Journal has me thinking that the future of Linux deployment might perhaps be even better than he predicted."

  • Introducing KDE 4: Amarok 2.0
    (2009-01-10 22:03:55)
Introducing KDE 4: "Finally, Amarok 2 has been released. The 1.x series were the champions on music management (on BSD and Linux) and playing during KDE 3.x time. Actually, it was preferred on all desktop environments, shells or plain windows managers."
