Infrastructure Linux News for Jun 06, 2009:
Editor's Note: Users Are Not As Stupid as the FUDsters Say
(2009-06-06 00:02:22) "You're never too old to try something new; computers are a heck of a lot of fun; and anyone can learn to do anything." I still believe that, and most of the time it's true.
Judgement Day: Studio Dave Tests Ubuntu Studio 9.04
(2009-06-06 06:02:22) Linux Journal: "I need at least one i386 installation here at Studio Dave because some production software is not yet 64-bit ready, and I happen to need that software. SuperCollider3 can run on a 64-bit system, but only after some tricky maneuvers; the label printing programs for my Lightscribe drive are 32-bit only; and VST/VSTi audio plugins still work best in a pure 32-bit system."
AbiWord - the underestimated word processor
(2009-06-06 10:02:22) Dedoimedo: "When someone tells you to name a word processor, you'll most likely say Microsoft Word, maybe OpenOffice Write, seldom WordPerfect, but almost never AbiWord. This little tools seems to avoid the spotlight, which is a shame, because it's a beautiful, powerful word processor that you should definitely be using."
HOW-TO: Configuring Your Mouse To Work With All 5 Buttons
(2009-06-06 14:02:22) LinuxHardware: "anders999 writes "Getting the mouse to work with all the five buttons I write to you this article because I've just solved a problem that I haven't yet seen an easy solution to."
Tetris: From Russia With Fun! (Happy 25th Birthday!)
(2009-06-06 14:09:14) Time: "Sputnik burned up in the atmosphere, Berlin is now one city, but 25 years later, the Soviet-designed Tetris remains one of the most popular and ubiquitous video games ever created."
Tweeting via Pidgin on Ubuntu
(2009-06-06 18:02:22) Tech Source From Bohol: "You can even send and receive SMS (Text Messages) for free via Pidgin. So if it can do all these, does it support everybody's favorite micro-blogging platform Twitter?"
Good Passwords
(2009-06-06 22:02:22) Realeyes Technology: "I have recently had reason to think about "good" passwords. To begin with, passwords are like keys. And weak passwords are like leaving your keys in the ignition of your car when you are out of it -- before long, it's going to be stolen."
