The young construction worker loved tinkering with his PC and his Windows Mobile smartphone, so when the Android-powered T-Mobile G1 arrived in 2008, he quickly snapped one up. Android was an open source operating system, and he figured it would be that much easier to mold and shape the thing to his liking.
