PRNewswire: Linux Expert Reacts to Government Efforts to Split Microsoft

"Mark Bolzern, president of the world's largest e-commerce supplier of Linux products, said today's Department of Justice proposal to split Microsoft Corp. in two could backfire."

"You'll have two bad boys instead of one," said Bolzern. "If the breakup of Microsoft eventually happens and government monitoring stops, the two divisions are likely to go back to the old Microsoft tactics."

"Bolzern, president of LinuxMall.com, said the other possibility resulting from today's action is that the case becomes tied up in appeals for several years and nothing is really accomplished."

"Bolzern said no matter what happens in the Microsoft case, the end result will show that people are tired of the operating system dominance of Microsoft, and Linux will continue its rapid increase in marketshare and importance as a viable alternative operating system for businesses and individuals."
