"Troubled Linux services company Linuxcare has joined the IA-64 Linux Project in the hope that interest in the upcoming Intel Itanium version of the open source OS will rub off on itself."

"The IA-64 Linux Project, formerly known as Trillian - named after a character in Douglas Adams' Hitch-hikers' Guide to the Galaxy that Arthur Dent entirely failed to get off with - is due to release its 64-bit Linux offering later this year."

"That process will undoubtedly be accelerated by the "several" coders Linuxcare will supply. The project team already includers programmers from Red Hat, Caldera, VA Linux Systems, TurboLinux, SuSE, SGI, Hewlett-Packard and IBM."
