Australian IT: Linux Demand Will Drive Growth

"Enterprise data centres represent the next frontier of Dell Computer's growth in Australia, according to the company's Asia-Pacific and Japan president, Bill Amelio.

"The industry-wide drive toward Linux-based systems running on cheap hardware of standard components would create another groundswell of demand for the Dell marketing and distribution juggernaut, he predicts.

"Mr Amelio said a primary concern of corporate IT managers was the high cost of maintaining their existing IT environment..."
