"In recent years, Open Source software has achieved impressive penetration into the corporate IT portfolio, most notably in the form of Linux as a server OS. Initial barriers to adoption, such as lack of corporate level support, were overcome by the creation of Linux distributors with big business cultures and aspirations such as Red Hat and Suse, and the adoption and promotion of Linux by major hardware and services vendors such as IBM, Oracle and Dell.

"In the past year, major Linux distributors have being gearing up for what is seen as the next big push--a fully Open Source desktop capable of replacing the Windows/Office de-facto standard, and after evaluating the likes of Ximian XD2 and Red Hat FC2 it is clear that they are on the right track..."
