"A recent news release from Excedent, the parent company of Webmail.us, informs us that Webmail.us is migrating away from Microsoft to open-source. The company provides a hosted email service with virus filtering and spam blocking, for the mid market. The company believes that the move will improve the scalability of its service and its time to market (time to add new features). The open source products it will be using include Linux, SquirrelMail, PostFix, Courier and Clam A/V. Cost was not mentioned as a motivating factor, but it was probably part of the mix. Why is this significant? Well not because it happened, but because the company chose to press release it..."
