"One of the many things that the movement has struggled with is to define how money is to be made from open source. An obvious way is for companies to offer paid support services for open source products--there are plenty of examples of this. But the dual-licensing model popularized by Trolltech, MySQL, and Sleepycat is becoming increasingly prevelant. While I think this is a bad sign for open source, it is also the natural progression of the technology industry in which a new category of brand names have sprung up to create an effective monopoly of the movement.
