"Microsoft accused European Union regulators Thursday of
arranging 'secret contacts' between its competitors and cast doubt
on the independence of an EU-appointed monitor.
"The software maker, facing the threat of $2.4 million in daily
fines for not complying with an EU antitrust ruling, said in a
14-page filing that the European Commission 'actively encouraged
Microsoft's adversaries to 'educate' the trustee in a manner
detrimental to Microsoft...'"
