"Red Hat Inc. shares fell before Wednesday's opening bell after the software maker reported solid quarterly results but projected a profit that fell short of Wall Street's target.

"Shares of Red Hat, which distributes open-source Linux software that competes with Microsoft Corp.'s Windows operating system, fell 88 cents, or 3.1 percent, to $27.93 in premarket activity..."
